Who we are
Jillyfish Swim School started life back in February of 2017. It was a lifelong dream of Jill Seymour’s to be owner-operator of her own Swim School. Jill came up with the name Jillyfish Swim School reflecting on her own lifelong association with swimming from a young age in Lower Hutt at Nae Nae pool to waterskiing out in front of Petone Beach. From there, swimming and skiing at Lake Taupo for many years. Jill’s passion for teaching swimming started while working at Hui Pool as a teacher then swim coordinator for Hutt City Council, then moving on to Swimming NZ and Water Safety NZ introducing AUSTSWIM to NZ, this program was later adopted by Swimming NZ as their main Teaching Qualification.
On May 7th 2020 Jill passed away from bowel cancer; her memory and passion for teaching swimming is still very much alive here today under her partner Reece Kennedy.
Reece’s passion for swimming has been lifelong. Learning to swim at Onekawa Aquatic Centre to starting to teach swimming on his OE in the UK and America. Reece has helped coach swimmers at competive swimming with Trojans, Sundevils and Aquahawks and Surf Lifesaving at a Provincial level. Reece has also helped many triathletes with their swimming.
