The Start of the swimming Journey
Infants / Toddlers (6 months to 3 years)
Age Groups: 6 to 18 months, then 19 months to 3 years
Format: Parent-in-water group, up to 8 participants
Focus:
Water discovery and gentle introduction to the water environment
Early stages of water conditioning
Helping little ones become comfortable with the feel of water and initial submersion experiences
Environment: Safe and supportive setting
Preschool (3-5 Years)
Format: Parent in water or parent out of water, depending on child's ability
3-4 Years:
With parent's assistance, beginning to dive to the pool bottom
Floating on front and back
4-5 Years:
Child participates on their own if they meet criteria
Stages:
Clam: Confidence, submersion, assisted floating
Starfish: Unassisted floating, rotation, kicking
Jellyfish: Dog paddle, kicking & breathing, backstroke
School Age (5 Years & Up)
Level Skills Covered:
Tadpoles: Assisted submersion and floating Small class sizes
Frog: Unassisted floating, kicking, rotation
Nemo: Freestyle and backstroke arms
Crocodile: Intro to freestyle breathing and breaststroke
Bronze Shark: Swim 25m freestyle breathing every 2nd/3rd stroke, 25m backstroke smooth arms, breaststroke intro arms & legs timing, butterfly intro, tumble turn intro, dive starts
Silver Shark: 50m freestyle with good technique, 50m backstroke, improving breaststroke timing, tumble turns & streamlining
Gold Shark: 75m freestyle with turns, 75m backstroke, 75m breaststroke, IM introduction
Pre Swim Club / Fitness / Dolphin: Increase swimming distance up to 200m
This progressive structure ensures each child builds water confidence, skills, and technique appropriate to their age and ability, all within a friendly and supportive environment at Jillyfish Swim School.
